CivicActions is seeking individuals with experience in backend web
development using Java, writing web applications using a test-driven
deployment approach, and using relational and non-relational database
systems. Is comfortable working in an agile and lean environment to
routinely deploy changes. For this position, a minimum of 2 years
developing and deploying backend web applications in an agile environment
is required. This role works within our agile process as an
engineering resource for the scrum team with our clients in the public
sector. The current position requires on site interactions with clients and
users in Sacramento California. You must be a Sacramento resident or be
willing to travel to Sacramento for this project. US citizenship is
required for this position.

   - Backend web development using Java
   - Authoring developer-friendly documentation (e.g., API documentation,
   deployment operations)
   - Developing and Consuming web-based, RESTful APIs with the Dropwizard
   Java framework
   - Communicating technical concepts to a non-technical audience.
   - Writing automated unit, integration, browser, accessibility,
   acceptance, load, and performance tests (e.g. JUnit, JMeter, Selenium,
   Pa11y)
   - Using and working in team environments that use agile methodologies
   (e.g., Scrum, Kanban, Lean)
   - Use of version control systems, specifically Git and GitHub
   - Quickly researching and learning new programming tools and techniques
   - Writing and working with open source solutions and community
   - Knowledge of enterprise user authentication tools
   - Handling and scaling the storage of large data sets, scalable search
   technology

*Desired Skill Set*

   - Intense curiosity about people and human interactions
   - Ability to appreciate and communicate with both introverts and
   extroverts
   - Desire to become an extraordinary communicator by searching inside
   yourself
   - Ability to see patterns and identify unstated needs
   - Experience with GitHub, Pivotal Tracker, Slack
   - Configuring JasperReports to render XML documents into PDF
   - Complementary/specialized skills such as coding and debugging are also
   a plus

Historically, we have been a fully distributed remote team. This current
position will require being located in Sacramento, California for a minimum
of three months and possibly longer, therefore we are seeking candidates
who reside in Sacramento or are willing to commute on a daily or weekly
basis.
