Site Lead, Operations

The Site Lead is a key member of the operations staff with responsibility 
for proper functioning of all components of eBay production sites. The 
Site Lead has primary responsibility for all monitoring and site tools as 
well as first-line resolution of operation. Additionally the Site Lead 
will be well versed in all operational processes and procedures and will 
have primary responsibility for actions required to maintain site 
availability and performance.

Shift:
Friday, Saturday and Sunday from midnight to noon, and alternating 
Mondays from midnight to noon.

Location:
Rancho Cordova, CA (near Sacramento)

Responsibilities:
Basic understanding of all components of the eBay site in order to 
analyze impact of alarms and other system messages
Respond to alarms and other systems which monitor the site
Resolve errors and alarms quickly and provide timely escalation
Take corrective action for operational problems
Monitor site changes to ensure minimal impact and detect problems
Provide appropriate support for the release team
Complete tasks required to maintain service levels and availability of 
all site features and functions
Open help desk tickets with appropriate problem information and details

Qualifications:
BS in technical field or equivalent experience
Minimum two years experience working in 24x7 production environment
Proven problem solving skills with an emphasis on quick problem resolution
Ability to work on many tasks simultaneously in a high-pressure 
environment
Basic Unix system administration skills
Basic NT system administration skills
Knowledge of relational databases preferably Oracle
Basic LAN and WAN network knowledge
Experience with web development technologies like HTML, XML, XSL, Java
