PRESENTERS:
Ken Maruyama
Head of Recruiting
Industrial Light & Magic
Ken Maruyama, Head of Recruiting is responsible for directing the
recruiting team in meeting the personnel needs of production and of the
company.  Ken also implements ILM’s Diversity Recruiting initiative
through developing relationships with key colleges and universities
that have a diverse student population.  As the former Director of the
Digital Animation and Creature Development Group at Industrial Light &
Magic, Ken brings valuable knowledge and experience to the Recruiting
group. Prior to ILM, Ken was the vice president and executive producer
at Interface Video in Washington, D.C., where he managed the Graphics
and animation division for ten years.  Interface was one of the few
post-production facilities with in-house capabilities of producing 35mm
motion control combined with 3D and 2D digital effects.  Ken Maruyama
has a Masters Degree in Graphic Design from the University of
California, Los Angeles.

Phill Simon

Phill Simon is an expert in the game animation field with over 15 ears
of professional experience. Currently, he is Executive Producer at
Mondo Media, the game industry's premier production house for
high-quality 3D animation and graphics. His work for the company has
involves developing cutting-edge digital animations for some of the
most successful games of the last few years, including "James Bond -
NightFire," "Lord of the Rings - Two Towers," "Command and Conquer
Generals" and "The Sims online" In addition to his animation experience
Phill designed and produced several PC games including "Space Bunnies
Must Die!" "Bad Mojo" and "Iron Helix"

Jim Tierney
Bay Area Motion Graphics Group
Digital Anarchy

Jim Tierney has been involved with computer graphics for the last 13
years, covering the gamut, from production artist to software designer.
These days he runs a real world exercise in chaos theory called Digital
Anarchy, showing what happens when you throw together technically
minded artists with creative programmers and then seeing what they
manage to accomplish when they're not playing Counterstrike. Generally
this results in some pretty cool plug-ins for Adobe After Effects and
Photoshop.

Jeremy Birn

Author, "Digital Lighting & Rendering"

Jeremy Birn is a Technical Director at Pixar Animation Studios
(Emeryville, CA), where he is busy modeling, lighting, and rendering
shots for the movie "The Incredibles," due to be released November,
2004. Before Pixar, Jeremy worked at Bay Area companies
including Wild Brain (San Francisco), and Tippett Studio (Berkeley, CA).
At Tippett he worked as a Lighting TD on the feature film “Evolution,”
and did modeling work on Tippett's Blockbuster ads, featuring Carl and
Ray, the now famous Rabbit and Guinea Pig. Jeremy is the author of the
popular book Digital Lighting & Rendering which explains how to apply
cinematic techniques to 3D lighting and rendering. More of Jeremy's
work, information from his book, and pages of career advice for aspiring
