Subject: [Lug-nuts] Job posting

Hi All,

I've been to a couple Saclug meetings (maybe 2 years ago), but I never
subscribed to the mailing list, so I'm new here.

My company is about to start looking for a summer intern, but I
thought I'd try posting the ad here first, since I'm looking for
someone with Linux experience.

Here's the rough version of the ad that we'll post on craigslist
Friday or Monday. My questions are: Is anyone interested in applying?
(email me your resume if so) Does anyone have any questions I could
address in the ad that would help me to attract the sort of person I'm
looking for?

fyi: we're looking for:

* someone who's excited about linux and open source,
* someone who can write code and knows hardware and networks, but
isn't necessarily a software developer or a sys admin.
* someone resourceful and independent, but who also understands the
importance of being able to work with a team
* someone with not much experience who's willing to view this as a
learning opportunity that pays ok for a learning opportunity, rather
than as a possible fulltime job (although I'm not ruling that out)

Here's the ad:

----

Do you install and optimize Linux for fun? Have you spent days or
weeks trying to run Linux on your graphing calculator? Do you score
higher than 35% on the geek test v.3.1?

We're an ePublishing firm based in midtown Sacramento. We're looking
for a major geek with skills, but not so much work experience, for a
6-month (approximately) internship. The position will be 20 hours per
week and pays $14-16/hour. Start as soon as possible.

What you should already know something about:

Linux
Apache
MySQL
PHP
XHTML/CSS
Subversion

Some of the thing you might not know anything about but might like to
learn and can get experience with in this internship:

MySQL replication
Linux Clustering
AJAX
Ruby on Rails
Agile development
Flash/Actionscript
Windows Server 2003
Whatever else you're interested in

Send resume to us.
