Director of Systems Engineering

Seeking a Director, Systems Engineering for a great technology company
located in Orinda, CA.  Here are the details on the position:

GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB
Responsible for evangelizing Company’s service, functioning as a technical
consultant during the sales process, and overseeing  deployments on an as
needed basis to enterprise software manufacturers. Includes management of
Boston based Systems Engineer.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Frequently:
Provide product demonstrations to prospects and partners demonstrating the
value of a hosted solution for the delivery of software and licenses
Engage with prospects to evangelize the platform and effectively communicate
Company’s value proposition
Develop proof of concept and pilot implementations rapidly and effectively
for prospects and customers
Manage SE resources effectively to ensure appropriate national coverage for
sales opportunities
Interact with Company’s engineering and IT group to effectively communicate
key trends in the marketplace as indicated by prospects, partners and
customers

Regularly:
Travel to customer locations in the Western half of the US.

Occasionally:
Engage with new Company customers immediately post sale and remain the
primary Company point of contact for the customer until the hosted site has
been launched for production use
Interact as the key technical point of contact for Company’s existing and
future partners
Responsible for the development of an implementation plan that is consistent
with deployment methodology, and the execution of work by internal company
and customer resources
Use traditional project management techniques such as deliverable and
responsible party identification, issues tracking and management, and
communication planning
Represent Company in public speaking engagements such as webinars, customer
conferences, third party industry events etc
Oversee and manage technology projects (e.g. documentation).
Travel by air to customer locations.

LEADERSHIP AND SUPERVISION
Determines methods and procedures on new assignments and may coordinate
activities of other personnel for specific project implementations.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage the East Coast SE based in the Boston office.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree (B A., B.S.) from a four-year college or university; or
five to eight years related experience and/or training; or equivalent
combination of education and experience. A degree in Computer Science or
Engineering is highly preferred.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Exceptional presentation skills with the ability to communicate effectively
at all levels of an organization
Capable of quickly and effectively creating white papers and other technical
documentation
Ability to analyze complex business environments and develop solutions
highlighting the value of the service
Proficiency and significant experience using SQL, XML, XSLT, and Java
technologies
Experience working with a hosted application
Prior experience leading project implementations either as a project manager
or technical lead

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
Prior experience with Digital Rights Management or Licensing Technologies is
highly desired. Prior experience with hosted ASP models also a strong plus.
