We are looking for a Sr. Unix/Linux System Administrator. The
Sr. System Administrator will be working with a team of 3 other system
administrators supporting a mission critical, 24x7x365 EDA engineering
environment consisting of RedHat Linux and Solaris servers and Linux
and Windows workstations.
The ideal candidate will come from a strong Linux and/or Solaris
system administration background with experience working in a
multi-project EDA engineering environment. They will be responsible
for managing daily operations, NAS storage, backup and disaster
recovery, a large Linux/Solaris compute farm, and corporate network
infrastructure. The candidate will be responsible for managing
projects related to Linux/Solaris server capacity planning, new Linux
infrastructure design/build-out/deployments, improving Linux/Solaris
server performance and availability, implementing new server
monitoring and tuning technologies and complex troubleshooting and
problem resolution of major server issues. In addition, the
Linux/Solaris S/A will be responsible for assisting in day to day
system administration duties on an as needed and on-call basis.
REQUIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS/WORK EXPERIENCE:
* At least 8 years UNIX server support/engineering
* Experience in a semiconductor company
* At least 4 years Linux server support/engineering
* 4-year Degree
* Red Hat Certified Engineer certification or equivalent experience
* Strong knowledge of Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Solaris 8x
* Thorough knowledge of Intel x86, Itanium and AMD Opteron based hardware
* Strong knowledge of NFS, NIS, DNS, DHCP, and automounter
* Knowledge of capacity planning and utilization monitoring techniques
* Strong knowledge of Network Appliance fileservers
* Strong TCP/IP networking skills
* Experience with compute farm provisioning and management
* Experience configuring and managing Sun Grid Engine or LSF
* Experience supporting and multi-project EDA engineering environment
with a solid understanding of the EDA development cycle, tools and
processes
* Must have strong interpersonal, oral and written communication
skills, be extremely self-motivated, be able to work with minimal
day-to-day guidance and have the ability to own problems through to
resolution
* Experience developing custom Linux Kickstart configurations
* Experience managing enterprise backups with Legato Networker or
Veritas NetBackup
* Strong PERL and shell programming skills
DESIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS/WORK EXPERIENCE:
* UNIX/Windows integration and compatibility issues
* Windows 2000, 2003 Server and XP
* Microsoft Exchange 2003
* Experience with Hierarchical Storage Management technology
* Experience with operational management of Cisco Catalyst Switches
* Security and Firewall configuration including Cisco PIX and VPN
* Concentrators
