Under the general direction of the Manager of the Markets & Scheduling Application Development department, participates in the full systems development lifecycle of the Transmission Register Redesign Project. Assignments will be specific to activities associated with the development of the user interface and application server components. 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 

Participates in requirements analysis, design, development, documentation and implementation of designated application development projects 
Works with clients to refine business requirements, present system design, and resolve issues during testing and implementation 
Attends business and technical meetings 

TYPICAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 

Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. Occasionally there may be a requirement to stoop or lift or handle material or equipment weighing up to 25 pounds. Requires normal manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination, and corrected vision and hearing to normal range. 

WORKING CONDITIONS: 

Typically located in a comfortable indoor area. There may be occasional exposure to mild physical discomfort from factors such as dust, fumes or odors, loud noise, or bright lights. Most of the time is spent in general office or equivalent conditions which result in little or no exposure to injury or accident. 
 
Skills Requirement:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

Level of Education 
A Bachelor's degree (BA, BS) or equivalent education, training and experience 
Discipline 
Computer Science, Engineering or related field 
Amount of Experience 
Five or more years related experience 
Type of Experience 
IT applications development, analysis, support and project management 
Specific Technical Skills 
Developing and maintaining N-tier architecture, mid-range application systems using web-based, object-oriented technologies (Java J2EE), in a Unix environment 
Thorough understanding of computing standards and methodologies utilized in advanced technology environments (real-time, on-line, 7x24, distributed-component, object-oriented, open-systems, web-based, high-security architecture) 
Java Web UI APIs/Frameworks: Servlet/JSP, TagLibs, Struts, Tapestry, Velocity, etc. ? highly desired 
Web Bowser technologies: HTML, Javascript, CSS, DHTML, etc. ? highly desired 
Web Services technologies: SOAP, WSDL, Apache Axis, etc. ? highly desired 
Java development tools: XDoclet, Ant, Maven, JUnit, Cactus, JavaDocs, etc. ? highly desired 
Experience using Rational Rose and the Rational Unified Process (RUP) a plus 
Experience with any of the following would be helpful: Oracle tools (Toad, SQL*Plus), PL/SQL, Unix 
Other 
Must be able to work effectively in a team environment as facilitator and team member 
Strong communication and analytical skills required 
Attention to details critical to success
