JOB TTILE: Software Support Engineer

JOB DESCRIPTION:
Our client is an Intel and IBM funded Linux systems 
management software company. They are seeking a 
Software Support Engineer to join their team.
This is a multi-faceted role, supporting customers, ISV 
partners, OEM partners, and SI partners. The primary 
responsibility of this position is to provide responsive and 
solid technical support for the Company's main
product, a Linux systems management software package. 
There will be a 75% / 25% split for post-sales / pre-sales 
activities.

Initial duties and responsibilities:
* Provide support and troubleshooting 24x7 on a rotation  basis.
* Hands-on testing and certification of the Company's product.
* Implement software at customer sites.
* Assist in product certification lab build-out.
* Minor responsibilities for office IT environment.
* Help develop support infrastructure and improve internal support tools.
* Document bug reports and incident reports, and develop internal knowledge
  base.
* Provide responsive and solid remote technical support in application
  installation and configuration, replication and diagnosis of 
  customer problems via email and phone.
* Provide the software development and product management teams with feedback
  on product.
* Document bug reports and incident reports, and develop internal knowledge
  base.
* Partner with the sales team to deliver product demonstrations to prospects.


JOB REQUIREMENTS::
* BS degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).
* 3-5 years (minimum) relevant industry experience.
* Hands on Linux system administration experience.
* Working knowledge of Linux technologies, such as RPM.
* Excellent customer skills and organizational skills.
* Ability to work well with engineers, sales, and customers.
* Strong verbal (face-to-face / phone) and written communication skills.
* Creative problem solver, fast learner, and challenge-driven.
* Ability to work and add value as a team member.
* Ability to script in admin languages (Perl, Python, Javascript, Shell script).
