First, the next one is on Sunday April 13, 2008. We have it booked.

Second, (and there is a third at the bottom ...) and very important

************* INSTALLFESTS ARE MOVING ******************

LET ME SAY THIS AGAIN

************* INSTALLFESTS ARE MOVING ******************

Why?

1131 has been great, but we found some place to better suit our needs.

Ok, cool, where?

It's called the "Zinfandel Lounge" at the Experimental College.
Spacially, it's about 100 meters from 1131. However, this means that
people will be

DRIVING DOWN HUTCHISON to get to it

So, the MAPS NEED TO CHANGE.

I'm willing to do this, or Bill, you can, or Alex, or anyone.

The new recommended parking will be OUTSIDE THE SILO.

The time (10-6) is the same. What we request the people to bring is the
same. There are no additional rules or regulations imposed on us.

Some nice things about this location:
It gets open at 10 for us - we don't need a key.

It has couches, for installees to fall asleep on as we reformat their
hard drives, part out their computers, and copy their personal data to
our USB sticks. Ok, we won't do that.

We can schedule months in advance and treat it almost like an
Experimental College Workshop with the remote possibility of being
listed in their publications.

The wireless signal is stronger.

We may get a more permanent wired connection.

Well, ok, two things

1. I'm leaving Davis at the end of August. No if's and's or but's.
Alex has been pretty good at keeping on top of things, and I presume
he'll take over. But I will not be able to continue to do them after
August really, unless I stay in Northern California. Either way, I
won't be local.

2. (And this is for Bill).

Have you thought about writing a script that sends off an automated
email to the California Aggie and Davis Enterprise about the event when
you set the date on the website.

I am imagining something like

$ set_installfest.pl 4 13 2008

And the website is updated and all the advertising emails are sent out.

------

There is another section about advertising to be written (specifically
in surrounding communities), but I don't know exactly what to say there yet.

Ok,
thanks for listening.

bye.
