1999.01.27 Meeting Notes

This meeting was held at the Silver Dragon restaurant in Davis. After dinner and chatting, the remaining of us headed over to Cafe Bernardo's for dessert and caffeine.

Topics included:

• More getting to know each other
• A tiny Java-based computer Bill Broadley has
• Gossip about Richard Stallman (of GNU)
• Objectives for the club:
  • Getting members together to do projects
  • Potential Presentations
    • Installfests for people interested in beginning to use Linux or upgrade their current kernel
    • Getting to know the different Window Managers available
    • Keeping in touch with other OS software by means of WINE, Samba, Exceed and Executor (Windows and Mac emulators and such)
    • Doing day-to-day tasks with Linux (like word processing with Star Office, Word Perfect or ApplixWare, graphics with GIMP, etc.)
    • What games are available and how to install them
