I seem to remember (way back.. Simtel?)  a little tool that boasted "military grade" erasure--  i.e. 6+ rewipes or such.  But I think I read recently that XYZ alphabet soup Agency could get anything back if they wanted.
  Don't have anything bad like that to hide myself, but have been using linux command  srm   that supposedly does secure removal per-file, for my banking statements & such.  Am I too sanguine?  Which brings to mind actually--  I've been running TrueCrypt for years and years to store such files, but then I heard somewhere that its crypto was bested by someone-or-other.  Any prefences from y'all as to such wares?
