The Linux Users' Group of Davis (LUGOD) will be holding the following meeting:

Presentation:
  Tux Paint - art software for kids
  presented by Bill Kendrick, Tux4Kids

  Tux Paint is a popular drawing program for young children. It has
  been developed as open source software, and released for for Linux,
  Windows, Mac OS X, and other platforms, and translated to nearly 120
  languages and dialects.

  This past August, after five years of development, a new version of
  Tux Paint was released. It included over a dozen new drawing tools,
  hundreds of new pieces of art, improved accessibility, and translations
  to new languages.

  Tux Paint was written in the C programming language, using the
  Simple DirectMedia Layer libraries (libSDL).  This presentation will
  include a brief demonstration of Tux Paint, including some of its new
  features, and may delve into the topics of Tux Paint's development,
  release, and public relations processes.

About the speaker:
  Bill Kendrick was the creator of Tux Paint, and with the help of
  hundreds of contributors worldwide, he acts as lead developer, release
  manager, public relations, and more.  His day job is that of CTO of
  Smashwords, Inc., and the remainder of his time is spent helping raise
  two young children, running the Linux Users' Group of Davis, and waxing
  nostalgic about classic Atari computers and video game systems.
