[vox] should I keep gnome 3 or just go XFCE?

I upgraded a system to Gnome 3 shell yesterday and things are not looking all that
great. Either that, or I just haven't figured things out. I can't put the weather or
the system monitoring gadgets up top. I did an
apt-get install gnome-shell
to install it. I saw this article on XFCE. Any XFCE users out there?

Or, have I just not figured out Gnome 3 well enough? Any tips?
