Real-life / IRC BAD meeting tonight...

----- Forwarded message from Hereon <hereon1@fastmail.us> -----

==============================================================
You are invited to the November 12, 2003 Bay Area Debian meeting. :)

It will be held at QCup, a wifi enabled (802.11b) tea & snacks cafe in
Milpitas, tomorrow, 11/12, from 6+PM to 9+PM. [Whoever gets there first,
make a BAD sign or Debian swirl out of materials found onsite, ala
McGuyver. :) ]

We will have a special topic for those who wish to participate, in
addition to our normal "discuss anything of interest".

SPECIAL TOPIC - (Optional. For those who wish to help or learn.)
============= - Work on getting wireless & IRTextC (& maybe Voice
Communication) running, to connect the Debian meeting to remote
locations. This is an opportunity for you to help bring access from
Debian meetings to remote attendees.

(This is also being done as preparation for generating the technology to
be used by the WW Linux FSW GPL VideoNetcast Conference & SW Creation
Event. http://wiki.debian.net/index.cgi?WwdebVideoconf)

We'll work on
1) Identifying the sw to be used. (wireless networking [configing a
laptop to serve as a wifi AP], IRC [servers & clients], & perhaps voice)
2) Determining configuration parameters.
3) Getting a demo working.
4) Connecting w/ any remotes that might exist for this meeting.
5) Documenting this for use by others.

This is open to everyone, no matter what your skill level. Come to
learn, or help out. Bring an 802.11b wireless capable laptop for fullest
opportunities. (You might want to bring a 6' multi-outlet extension
cord, if you need to ensure you have access to power.)

==== USUAL TOPICS =====: Discuss anything of interest to attendees.
This is open to everyone, no matter what your skill level. Discuss
installing or using Debian, or anything else.

This meeting will be in real & virtual space.

If you wish to connect to the meeting from a remote location, email the
BAD list [bad at bad .debian. net] & inform us. We'll get info on how to
connect to us back to you by email, or a post to the bad mailing list, or
via the wiki.

See you there! :)
