as TMBG says ... everything you know is wrong.  or was that wierd al?  i
can never remember.

i'm not sure i understand this.  sounds like GNU has an alternate glibc.
or perhaps they're working on a GNU libc 7.   the post was written
pretty vaguely.   but i think it implies that hurd is still using a
library considered "glibc" (just as GNU libc 5 was called glibc, i
think).

the only way i know is that when i first started using linux, for the
first year or two, everyone was laughing at slackware because it was
still using libc 5 when the world had been using libc 6 for quite
awhile...  the comments were pretty funny, actually.  :)
