Aida,

Step 1, if you want to run Ubuntu in a window inside of Windows, then
that is called a Virtual Machine. This method does not a require a USB
drive at all, only the ISO of the Ubuntu version you want and virtual
machine software.

Step 2, sounds like you picked Virtual Box. Try following this

Come back if that doesn't work.
