Hello all,
I have my GPG key uploaded to pgp.mit.edu, and have had it there since
2002. When I do
gpg --list-keys doug@dooglio.net
from my local key ring, I get:
pub 1024R/F30A8A27 2002-07-28 R. Douglas Barbieri (Software Engineer /
Linux Advocate) <doug@dooglio.net>
uid R. Douglas Barbieri <doug@dooglio.net>
sub 1024R/E8F7EA5C 2002-07-28
If I look up "doug@dooglio.net" via the web interface at
http://pgp.mit.edu/, I get this:
pub 1024R/C55B91D4 2002/07/28 R. Douglas Barbieri <doug@dooglio.net>
R. Douglas Barbieri (Software Engineer /
Linux Advocate) <doug@dooglio.net>
Why are the two id numbers different?
F30A8A27
and
C55B91D4
Shouldn't they be the same?
Also, if I perform
gpg --keyserver pgp.mit.edu --recv-keys C55B91D4
I get
gpg: key F30A8A27: "R. Douglas Barbieri (Software Engineer / Linux
Advocate) <doug@dooglio.net>" not changed
gpg: Total number processed: 1
gpg: unchanged: 1
but if I do this:
gpg --keyserver pgp.mit.edu --recv-keys F30A8A27
I get:
gpg: no valid OpenPGP data found.
gpg: Total number processed: 0
So, like, what gives? I've even tried re-uploading my key but the MIT serve=
r still
thinks it's C55B91D4.
