hi all,
for the most part, i really like cvs. it's powerful, and some aspects
of it are very convenient.
however, there are other aspects of it which i really hate. even
deleting a file could've been made more convenient. it's almost as if
no thought went into it. suppose i wanted to delete a long file named
"thisIsAveryLongfileWithawierdname". it would make more sense to do:
cvs remove thisI<tab>
rm thisI<tab>
rather than what cvs forces you to do:
rm thisI<tab>
cvs remove thisIsAveryLongfileWithawierdname
by rm'ing the file first, you can't use tab filename completion anymore.
or even a simple operation like renaming a directory is an utter
nightmare.
i've always been impressed with linux's tendency to make things super
convenient for programmers. but cvs runs counter to this. it's almost
as if it was developed with no user input to the developers.
i'm sure there are cvs replacements out there. i'm wondering if
anybody has ever played around with one? make suggestions?
