I've been shamefully slow getting this posted (lost track of it for a few
weeks!), but was pinged today, so apparently the position is still open!
The staffing company is out of Roseville, so I'm assuming the job is
in or near that area.

Linux Programmer

Summary

Perform a variety of programming assignments requiring knowledge of
established programming procedures and data processing
requirements. Create, maintain and modify programs. Primary operating
systems are Linux based, but are not limited to Linux and often
interfaced with Windows client systems.

Programming Skill Requirements:

 * Work with a variety of Linux based operating systems including but
   not limited to, such as: Fedora, Ubuntu, RedHat, etc...

 * A solid understanding of the OS operating structure and functions
   and installations.

 * A good understanding of network communication protocols and the
   ability to learn new ones when required... Such as TCP / UDP, RS-232,
   RS-485

 * Ability to create system clones of customer systems for archiving
   and retrieval.

 * Develop create Web based server applications and user interfaces
   using programming languages such as, but not limited to: Basic, Real
   Basic, C, C++, HTML, PHP, others.

 * Web service application setups, operations with remote I/O controls
   in support of company products

 * Develop non-web User interfaces to company products.

 * Develop/Create Security and access control features applied on
   company products

 * A thorough understanding of the IP Ethernet stack and its
   communications, (Layer-7 network application interface)

 * Setup and configuration and use of network analyzing programs such
   as WireShark.

 * Ability to analyze and troubleshoot captured data communications


Primary Responsibilities:

 * Code, test and troubleshoot programs utilizing the appropriate
   hardware, database, and programming technology.

 * Create new programs, maintain and modify existing programs; make
   approved changes noting all revisions, updates and modifications in
   logic, coding and function.

 * Test and develop programming modifications.

 * Write new program code using prescribed specifications.

 * Analyze performance of programs and take action to correct
   deficiencies based on consultation with users, supervisor and
   customers.

 * Confer with users to gain understanding of needed changes or
   modifications of existing programs. Resolve questions of program
   intent, data input, output requirements, and inclusion of internal
   checks and controls.

 * Write and maintain programming documentation.

 * Analyze client/server and micro-computer based software solutions
   compatibility with company requirements.

 * Maintain confidentiality with regard to the information being
   processed, stored or accessed.

 * Document programming problems and resolutions for future reference.

 * Assist personnel of other departments as needed.

 * Read, Write and Speak fluently in English.

   Work to project targets under pressure; keen to take on
   responsibility; Clear and concise communicator.


Working Conditions:

Working conditions are normal for an office environment but are not
limited to office only. Required limited travel (approx. 25%), weekend
and after normal business hours as needed response to customer systems
being supported. Work requires extensive work using a computer and
electronics.
