I have an excellent permanent opportunity for a Linux Systems
Administrator in Sacramento.  The client is a Domestic Leader in the
Gaming Industry.  

 

The job description is included below- please let me know if you would

Position Summary:

            

Responsible for all system administration for all systems in assigned
Data Center.  Responsible for installation, integration, testing,
tuning, maintenance, design, and documentation of systems, utilities,
tools, etc.  Charged with maintenance of systems security and integrity
as well as network troubleshooting and diagnosis of issues (TCP/IP,
SMTP, DNS, etc.) regarding performance.  The Systems Admin will be on a
24x7 on-call rotation schedule.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. 

1.      Resolve technical issues through diligent research,
reproduction, and troubleshooting

2.      Work directly with staff in quality assurance, engineering,
sales, marketing, operations, and administration to resolve problems

3.      Document all technical inquiries, develop and review content for
knowledgebase

4.      Maintain all Linux servers, including security updates, periodic
operating system upgrades, user accounts, and hardware.

5.      Install and maintain RHELinux 3 

6.      Support  staff in operation of RHELinux  3systems. Some direct
user support required. 

7.      Maintain and improve configurations of server (mail, DNS, FTP,
Apache, anti-spam) software. 

8.      Monitor and improve system security and network infrastructure. 

9.      Recommend changes to system infrastructure, such as new
equipment purchases

10.  Ability to monitor,tune and improve SQL databases. 

11.  Be available on a 24/7 on call rotation schedule to resolve issues
as needed.

12.  Other duties as assigned.




 Position Requirements/Skills & Abilities

1.      B.S. in Computer Science (preferred), Electrical Engineering,
Math, or equivalent work experience

2.       6+ years of Linux experience; working with different kernel
modules, working at the command line

3.      1+ years experience with SQL (preferably MySQL ).

4.       Strong scripting experience

5.      Strong knowledge on Linux Systems Admin. Like Webserver, mail
server, TCP/IP, Firewall and securities, Perl, Shell Script

6.      In depth understanding key system components such as MTAs,
Apache, BIND, FTP, NTP, DHCP, security,and Software RAID. 

7.      Thorough knowledge of network and system security, especially as
related to kernel named Linux and common Internet services. 

8.      Knowledge of network routing and related services in RHELinux,
such as iptables and stateful firewalls. 

9.      Ability to spec, purchase, assemble, and debug components for
custom-build server systems

10.  Excellent interpersonal skills

11.  Good practical working ability with UNIX utilities, including
editors and command shells

12.  Working knowledge of Microsoft (Windows Server 2003, Windows 2000
plus x86 platforms, devices, and networking

13.  Experience with RPM-based Linux distributions - Particularly Red
Hat  Linux and resource management 
Familiarity with HP Blade Servers , HP SAN

14.   Experience with software and security updates and documentation
Apache 1.3.* and 2.0.*: vendor builds and source builds
Familiarity with NFS and NIS in a Linux environment

15.  Additionally, experience in High Availability, Load Balancing, and
high traffic web environments is ideal.
