Title:  Linux User Interface Software Engineer (GUI Software Engineer)

 

The Big Footprint Group is responsible for developing compelling applications
for virtual machines on Linux, Windows and Mac platforms.  Our flagship
product, VMware Workstation, is powerful desktop virtualization software for
software developers/testers and enterprise IT professionals that runs
multiple operating systems simultaneously on a single PC.  Users can run
Windows, Linux, NetWare, or Solaris x86 in fully networked, portable virtual
machines - no rebooting or hard drive partitioning required. VMware
Workstation delivers excellent performance and advanced features such as
memory optimization and the ability to manage multi-tier configurations and
multiple snapshots.  

 

The BFG User Interface team is a tight-knit group that develops rich
application functionality for Workstation as well as other BFG products (see
below for more details).  They create compelling applications for virtual
machines on Linux, Windows and Mac platforms. 

 

As a User Interface engineer, you will: 

Help define the requirements of new products and features, and collaborate on
the user interface design. 

Design and own key components of our applications. 

Develop flexible, reusable code that can be shared in multiple applications. 

Ship quality desktop and server applications to hundreds of thousands of
customers. 

 

Requirements 

3+ years experience of commercial software product development. 

Linux application development (gtk2) 

Excellent design, programming and debugging skills.  

Excellent user interaction design and visual design acumen. 

Strong analytical skills, good judgment, passion for your work.      

BSCS, MSCS or equivalent
