Superman C++ Developer, NYC
Location: You can work from home, but you must live in the tri-state area
(NY, NJ, CT) for occasional meetings.
Company Overview
My client an early-stage startup founded by entrepreneurs and senior
executives from the financial services and e-commerce industries.
They are seeking an ambitious developer with 3-5 years of programming
experience to build a real-time alternative trading system.
You are thinking:
* Punch above your weight. You're a top performer in a company that says
they are performance-based but whose actions allude more to a tenure system.
You crave bigger responsibilities and career opportunities than you're
getting.
* Real ownership. You work well in teams but also thrive on the creative
freedom and technical rigor of owning a project from concept to production.
* No middleware. The business analyst you have to "interface" with tends to
take credit for your ideas with the higher ups. You feel you could
contribute more effectively if you had a first hand dialogue with the
business and the problems they're trying to solve.
Our offer:
* Work directly with the principals of the firm, executives with years of
experience building businesses in finance, technology and electronic
markets.
* No financial services industry experience necessary. The best people have
minds that can grasp and relate concepts across industries (or life
experiences). Sometimes it's these individuals who actually come up with
the break-through ideas.
* We view learning and teaching as a way of life.
* Critical thinking, creative minds - and a seat at the table.
Required Skills:
* Experience with C++ programming in Linux environment, including Network
Sockets and IPC.
* Experience with implementing custom network protocols or protocols based
on RFCs.
* Experience administering networks and LAMP stack applications.
* Experience with real-time systems or electronic trading systems.
* Familiarity with authentication and security concepts.
* Past experience working on comprehensive development projects without
close supervision.
* Knowledge of full life-cycle development (analysis, design, construction,
implementation).
* Knowledge of rapid development methodologies.
* Good written and verbal communication skills.
* Strong work ethic.
* Competitive contract-based cash compensation, with the opportunity for
full-time employment, bonus and equity compensation.
If you are interested in this position, please submit your resume, hourly
and/or salary requirements, and a paragraph (or two) highlighting your
skills/experience as it pertains to this job to
