RESOURCE ASSESSMENT PROGRAM,
CALIFORNIA DEPARTMENT OF FISH AND GAME
WILDLIFE BRANCH, RESOURCE MANAGEMENT DIVISION
The California Department of Fish and Game, Wildlife Branch is seeking a
Website Application Developer to manage and improve our public facing
and internal collaborative web applications. We are state agency with a
mission to manage state wildlife and natural resources for the benefit
of the public and the natural communities. Candidate will work with a
dynamic group of biologist, environmental scientists and policy makers
to convey up to the date information on research & planning to the
public. Candidate will also work to facilitate greater internal synergy
through adoption of new and developing methods and technologies.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:
Maintenance, enhancement and creation of informational web sites for
public outreach using Windows IIS, SQL Server, Active Server Pages, .NET
and HTML. Assist scientific staff in posting of relevant information and
the design and implementation of query driven pages. Maintenance and
enhancement of Content Management Sites using Zope, Plone and other
Python based frameworks. This job includes data security, user security,
issue tracking, version control systems, project status tracking and end
user training. Candidate will have the ability to work independently and
as part of a management team. An interest in Wildlife and Fisheries
issues is a bonus but not required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
* Degree/Certification in Web Development, Computer Science,
Computer Engineering or Related Field.
* Experience with the following languages/protocols: Cascading
Style Sheets(CSS), HTML, Javascript, Python, VBScript, SQL
* Familiarity with the following skills is beneficial but not required:
Server Technologies: Windows Server 2003, Suse Linux 10, Internet
Information Server, Apache 2.0, Zope 2 & 3, Microsoft SQL Server, Novell
* Additional Skills/Knowledge: Subversion/CVS, Trac, Open Source
Development, C, Visual Basic, Linux Shell Scripting, XML, XHTML, AJAX,
SOAP, LDAP
SALARY: Commensurate with experience and education – range $3000 -
$5000. Travel and lodging expenses will be reimbursed as appropriate.
