SYSTEMS SECURITY ENGINEER
Responsibilities
This engineer will be a member of the software team responsible for
designing and developing TiVo's reliable, fault-tolerant and secure
server technology, the backbone of TiVo's broadcast center operations.
Among other functionality, the service includes
- Databases and systems to manage and distribute TV program data,
software updates, and other TV related services.
- Data distribution (broadcast and point-to-point) and replication
designs that are independent of the underlying transport methods.
The position involves ongoing security improvements to the
service, both operational and architectural, including
monitoring existing systems and designing and developing
new services.
Required Skills and Experience
5+ years of successful experience in:
- Hardening Networked Linux (or other Unix) systems using proper system
administration and programming techniques as necessary
- Programinning in a linux environment with C++ and one or more of
shell, PHP, or Perl.
- experience with unix system and tcp/ip level security
- experience with secure development methodologies
Preferred Skills and Experience
- CGI development in C++ or Perl
- Design, development, and integration of relational or object database
applications
- Design and/or development of TCP/IP based applications
- Experience with RPM .spec files
- Linux/Unix kernel mods, including importing kernels
- Building custom Linux distributions
- Aesthetically appealling design and coding
- Repeatable design and development methodologies
EDUCATION
BS Computer Science or equivalent experience
