The Linux Users' Group of Davis (LUGOD), will be holding the following
free events later this month:


  Hands-on Linux Demonstration

    Saturday, April 17th
    3:00pm - 6:00pm

    Davis Food Co-Op
    620 G Street, Davis

    Learn about the Linux operating system, Open Source software for
    Windows and Linux, and try it out for yourself, first-hand.
    (An unstructured presentation.)

  Linux "Install-fest" Workshop

    Sunday, April 18th
    10:00am - 6:00pm

    Kemper Hall, Room 1131
    UC Davis campus, Davis

    Bring your computer to this event to get the Linux operating system
    installed and configured, for free, and get help from the experts.
    (You must RSVP in advance to receive help.)

  General Meeting - Guest speaker: Silicon Graphics, Inc. (SGI)

    Monday, April 19th

    Davis Public Library
    315 East 14th St., Davis

    Learn about SGI's Altix family of Linux-based servers and super-clusters.
    The recently-introduced Altix 350 mid-range system scales from one to
    sixteen 64-bit Intel Itanium 2 processors and up to 192GB of
    shared memory, while the Altix 3000 can use a whopping 64 CPUs and
    4TB of memory.  SGI plans to support up to 512 CPUs by the end of 2004!
