KDE can use SSH, combined with some simple POSIX tools running on the remote host ("mv", "cp", "sed") to seamlessly show you files on a remote host (both in Konqueror, and from within KDE apps!)
Thumbnails come up, just as if the files were local
or on a network file mount!
