Linux Users' Group of Davis - "LUGOD 2001.08.27 Meeting Notes"
2001.08.27 Meeting Notes
Officer's Meeting
Tecate Grill, Davis
Topics
- Contact Info
As Typescript (Secretary), Melissa wanted to know what contact information
is appropriate to provide to people in the public requesting it.
For club business with external parties, the "@lugod.org" mail aliases
were prefered.
- Carpool program
(Trying to ressurect the carpool-coordiation service) Davis will be
divided into its five standard areas, plus "points beyond." We'll try
to recruit volunteers who are willing and able to provide carpool
service from these areas to our regular meetings. People in need of
a ride must contact the secretary at least two days in advance of
a meeting, so that the closest driver can be contacted. Melissa will
conduct a survey soon over VOX to determine the service available, and
needed, at this time.
- Flyer Committee
Pete suggested the creation of a 'flyer committee' to help post event
flyers on a more regular basis. Flyer posting will become a more
social event, including a lunch/dinner get-together during or after
each campaign. More information on flyer distribution (eg, places with
the most foot-traffic, local businesses that allow postings, etc.)
will be added to LUGOD's Publicity-HOWTO.
- Reimbursment
Rhonda is going to make receipt/reimbursment forms more readily available
for members/officers who need to be paid back for various things.
- B/W suitable logo
Bill has been encouraged to create a more black-and-white-friendly
version of the LUGOD watertower logo for use on any future t-shirt,
businesscard, etc., printing.
- LUGODder-of-the-[term] Award
Pete has suggested that on a regular interval (probably not monthly,
but more likely every 6-months), an outstanding member of the user
group be awarded. A gift such as a book, game, or other piece of
software, will be given. This will not only help show LUGOD's
appreciation, but also encourage other members to become more
active. :^)
- Library return policy
Henry (librarian) could not make it to the meeting. However,
we discussed the possibility of using a cron-job to automagically
e-mail library patrons a few days before the item is due, and then
later e-mail Henry once the item is past-due. Items should be
returned within 2 weeks, unless they are renewed BEFORE the 2 week
limit. ("Failure to comply invokes the wrath of Pete" ;^)
)
- Demo table
LUGOD's original demo table (from our original Farmers Market demos)
was badly damaged in storage, and has been discarded. We are considering
replacing it with a foldable table some time soon, with the hope that
we can participate in Farmer's Markets again before fall.
