The lists are separate, and not everyone on vox@ is on lug-nuts@, and
vice-versa.

The problem with cross-posting like this is that if someone goes to
'Reply-all', if they're not on one or the other list, one message
will bounce. The list admin will probbaly need to deal with it
(post, or discard; in any case: work.)

Like you, it seems, I happen to also be on both of these lists, so it's
possible for me to reply-all right now, and this very message should
successfully post to both lists. Others might not be as lucky. :)

What I generally do is, if it's an announcement (like the RMS one I
forwarded to lug-nuts@ today, after seeing it posted to vox@ when
I checked my email this morning), is post to each list individually,
rather than cross-posting to a bunch of them.

They're each their own community (though obviously a lot of the same
members on many of the sam lists). I used to be part of ALL of the
LUG lists in the area. This had the advantage of allowing me to
post LUGOD announcements to all of the local LUGs, which are full
of local people who might care about a meeting. (In the end, I was
still on SVLUG, but with my subscription set to 'nomail', so I could
still post, but without having to witness all of the annoying arguments
that kept happening).

Now that I've moved out of state, I've unsubscribed for the lot of them,
save for LUGOD's vox@ (& friends), and SacLUG's lug-nuts at . Partially
it's out of nostalgia, and since I have closer friendships to the folks
in the closest LUGs that I took part in. Also, though, I still enjoy
helping out LUGOD (in whatever tiny way I can, from 700-800 miles north).

So my personal recommendation: don't cross-post like we're doing here ;-)
It ends up breaking threads, and causing grief for people trying to reply,
and grief for the list admins.
