The Linux Users' Group of Davis (LUGOD) will be holding the following meeting:

  Monday
  November 17, 2014
  7:00pm - 9:00pm

Presentation:
  "GNU Privacy Guard"
  presented by Adam Reiser

GNU Privacy Guard (GnuPG, or GPG), is a complete and free implementation
of the OpenPGP (Pretty Good Privacy, RFC4880) standard, which allows
you to encrypt and sign your data and communications (for example,
email, which is often sent unencrypted, and hence can be intercepted
or altered while in transit; think of unencrypted email as a postcard,
and encrypted email as a letter in a sealed envelope).

GnuGP features a versatile key management system as well as access
modules for all kinds of public key directories. GnuGP is a command
line tool with features for easy integration with other applications. A
wealth of frontend applications and libraries are available -- email
clients, chat programs, GUI front-ends, etc. The Gpg4Win and GPGTools
projects provide Windows and Mac OS X versions of GnuGP.

About the speaker:

Adam is a UC Berkeley graduate in physics and applied mathematics,
currently working as a privacy and security consultant.

Elections:

Annual LUGOD officer elections: nominations for officers
  end, and voting begins.

This meeting will be held at:

Yolo County Public Library, Mary L. Stephens Davis Branch
  315 E. 14th Street
  Davis, CA 95616
