Ugh. Don't feed the trolls.

Some quick points, as I skim over this:

"We love our Start menu and our Task Manager and our system tray."

... staring at my program menu, task bar, and system tray in KDE.
Uh, yeah... I love mine, too. Your point?

"remember how far back it has had to come from -- where just
managing to install the operating system for a non-expert (and
sometimes experts too) was considered a major triumph."

... I've heard that Windows is a pain in the ass to install, too.
People didn't usually have to do it, because it came with the computer.
I also remember where Windows came from. Win3.1 and MSDOS. When I first
saw it as a kid (after playing with the my brother's company's Mac,
the Macs at the local print shop, and the Mac at school), I thought it
was some kind of sick joke. And after using Win95 on my roommate's laptop
in college, I knew I never wanted to touch that, either. When I heard you
could get "something like Unix for PCs" (aka "RedHat"), I jumped at the
chance. My first PC was an old 133MHz box and I dropped RedHat 5
on it the day I bought it.

"the Linux community and the users and advocates themselves.
  Linux is a geek's OS."

... Ok, tell that to the TiVos, Rokus, ASUSes and Dells of the world.
And I'm sorry if I'm not "responsive to the common user". I'm usually
too busy worrying about "the common 3 year old."

I need to install an Ad blocker and turn it on before visiting
articles like this, so I don't feed the troll, either. :^P

For those of you who actually RTFA in its entirety, what do you think?
