From what I hear, iPods are well quite well supported under Linux.  Amarok, in 
fact, is apparently built to integrate right with it (with bugs me as a Zen 
user).  I went with a Zen player because the 30GB model was about $100 
cheaper than the 30GB iPod at Fry's.
