At last night's LUGOD meeting, people mentioned interest in having another
PGP/GPG talk. Well, if you don't mind driving 40min out to Roseville,
they've got just that going on at their next meeting! :^)

The Linux Users' Group of Roseville, California
will be holding a meeting on:
Monday, May 26, 2003 6:30pm - 9:30pm
Topic: An Introduction to GNU Privacy Guard (aka GPG, aka GnuPG)
Presented by: Paul Telford
GnuPG is GNU's tool for secure communication and data storage. It can be
used to encrypt data and to create digital signatures. It includes an
advanced key management facility and is compliant with the proposed OpenPGP
Internet standard as described in RFC2440.
I will present an introduction to GPG and its uses. I will also try to
present a high-level (not too technical) overview of how public-key
cryptography works. A brief outline:
* What is GPG
* What is Public-Key Cryptography
* History (PGP, GPG, etc.)
* What can GPG do for me?
* Digital signatures
* Encryption
* How to obtain & use GPG
* Key signing & the web-of-trust
* Q & A
If you are already a user of gpg, and are interested in having your key
signed, please bring the output of 'gpg --fingerprint' along with some Photo
ID [see below for example output]. (If you're not a gpg user yet, we'll
cover what the preceding sentence means, and why it is important.)
