This is interesting - what sort of problems were you having with the courier
packages? what platform, and what version?
i am using:

... and haven't experienced said problems....or it could be that i just
haven't *noticed* them yet!
perhaps this was related to an encoding issue? was it stripping the 8th bit
from EUC or shift-JIS encoded text? most of my traffic is using plain old
JIS, so its 7bit streams seem to be doing just fine. i am pretty sure
though, that when i tested sending EUC, shift-JIS, and unicode messages they
were fine.. but i could be wrong- it was a long time ago--
