On the 10th day of April, Micah J. Cowan said to me:

Probably something to do with the fact that Word/Windows thinks along the
lines of: "Hmm, this is a .doc, therefore, I can read it, but what the
hell *is* it really?" given that the extension has remained the same
despite may revisions of the format.
