My drive died on my laptop. Maybe Dell had some monkeys putting together
their laptopps. Your errors look very similar. :(

I bought a new drive and then called Dell. They sent me a new drive. You
can borrow my spare while you are waiting. 

Here is what I got when I tried with the Ubuntu boot disk.
