[vox-tech] DVD burning front ends

Hi all:

I had problems getting some systems to recognize the images i had
burned with k3b. Not to say that it can't be done, but I just thought
k3b was just 'almost there'. It's a really great project, but a bit
overkill on the graphics and stuff for what I need to use it for.

Here's my setup for burning dvd's:

1. Use XCDRoast to master the iso file, and save it somewhere, like
/cdimages/myimage.iso (I also use mkisofs from the command line, too,
since that is all that XCDRoast does).

2. Use the command line tool growisofs:
/usr/bin/growisofs -dvd-compat -Z /dev/hdc=/cdimages/myimage.iso
(assuming that the Dvd writer is at /dev/hdc)

On the gnome/kde thing: I use kde, just because I always have. No
real big reason. I also use gnome on the solaris desktop, and I have
to say that it is really frickin awesome to have the usability of gnome
(i always sputtered with CDE) on a solaris box.

O yea, and I start kde by just putting 'startkde' in the .Xclients file
in my $HOME, but I don't know if this is the correct(tm) way to do it.
:)

I believe that unarmed truth and unconditional love will have the final word in reality. That is why right, temporarily defeated, is stronger than evil triumphant.
