[vox-tech] postfix/apache

Hey all:

Apache "user dir" issue has been solved. Thank you for
your help. It turned out I simply needed to comment
one line out and uncomment another, down in the
UserDir section of httpd.conf.

As to the Postfix issues I also wrote about, I never
learned how to use RPM, though I know Fedora Core
(which I use) includes it. I'm now in the process of
studying the man pages and other documentation in
order to obtain PostFix via RPM (and anything else I
might need in the future). I'll let you know if I hit
any snags on this path. Rick has made an excellent
case for using RPM instead of grabbing, compiling, and
installing tarballs, and so I'll be taking his advice.

However, how do I "uninstall" a manual Postfix install
so that I can reinstall it using RPM? I would have
done it that way the first time, except the
installation guide I was using didn't suggest that
option (and the instructions were designed for Fedora
Core, which I'm running!).

Your distinction between MTAs and MDAs has been noted.
I'll return to the IMAP/POP3 business once I've gotten
this other part solved.
