Yes, that's exactly what was happening. The CPU was the bottleneck.
This is one of the most reliable workhorse machines I've ever had, and
may be SMP, but it's still a Celeron 333 SMP. The machine is such a
good performer, I sometimes forget that fact! :)
Doing a 50MB test with wget, I'm getting between 12 and 16 MB/s (which
is faster than 100Mb/s!).
In retrospect, it was kind of dumb to use scp to gauge the LAN speed!
