Hi Richard,

Haven't been able to install Linux on it yet.  I'm trying very hard to
keep everything on SATA, but unfortunately, that's proving to be quite
challenging.  I've got two SATA drives:

   SATA drive 1: 250 GB (intended for Win2k)
   SATA drive 2: 200 GB (intended for Linux)

Win2k installed on the first SATA drive.  My original plan was to
partition the 2nd SATA drive and then copy the Linux filesystem from my
older computer onto it.

Using Knoppix, I was able to partition the 2nd SATA drive, but copying
the filesystems is pretty much impossible.  When accessing the SATA
drive in any way, Linux gets unbelievably slow.  Slower than I've ever
seen any computer (and this is an XP 3200!).  So slow that the system is
quite unusable.

cfdisk can read/write the partitions on the 2nd SATA drive, but refuses
to even touch the 1st SATA drive (with Win2k), which is really
unfortuante.  That drive is 250GB.  Windows fdisk refuses to create
FAT32 partitions greater than 32 GB, but FAT32 partitions can be much
much bigger.  I created a 32GB OS partition and then was going to use
Linux fdisk to create two 100 GB partitions for applications and data.
But now that Linux seems to be having trouble with the SATA drive, I'm
kind of stuck with 218 GB of unformatted space.  I *really* don't want
to use NTFS.

I noticed a newer version of Knoppix is out.  Just bittorrented it and
will see if it has an updated kernel.  Hopefully 2.6.7.

If things don't go my way, I may change my game plan and install Linux
on a PATA drive, which means that I'll have a 200 GB SATA drive in my
closet until the Linux drivers mature.  :(

So to answer your question....

PS- I heard the same thing you did, about Abit not releasing specs to
the lm-sensor folk.  However, I found this:

to lm-sensors...
