We use BRU for writing to tape, b/c it's better at recovering from little tape
errors that tend to wreak havoc on tar. Tar does well for backups on disk, but
on tape, things get hairy and unwieldy with tar (if there is _any_ thing wrong,
tar just bombs).

That's only if you _really_ want to shell out some dough for software.
Other than that, Henry's, Chuck's, Jay's, and Dylan's suggestions were great.
