Supposedly, at around the time that this video card came out,
manufacturers were squeezing out a few extra percent on benchmarks by
having their drivers not check the command queue fullness on the video
card, and just sending the command. This resulted in locking the PCI bus
until a spot in the command queue opened up.=20

I wouldn't think XFree's mga driver would use this method, as it was
written by XFree driver writers, not Matrox. Interestingly enough,
mga(4) does have the PciRetry option, but as I've said in other messages
in this thread, this option does not affect the stuttering.=20

I have not tried this; bfp doesn't seem to be installed on my system,
nor does Mandrake have a bfp package. I'll try to track down and install
