I should have pointed this out when I wrote this, but will add this here
now. (Sorry to reply to my own post).
If you are planning to move from IDE/EIDE/ATA booting first to boot from
a SCSI disk first, and want a kernel for it, you may want to consider
building a kernel that has aic7xxx support built-in, and not as a
module.
