[vox-tech] Checking amount of memory

Odd,
When I pass the parm in during boot it works, but when I edited my lilo.conf
it doesn't:
boot=/dev/hda
map=/boot/map
append="mem=512m"
install=/boot/boot.b
prompt
timeout=50
linear
default=linux
image=/boot/vmlinuz-2.2.14-5.0
label=linux
read-only
root=/dev/hda9
Did I do something wrong?
