Position: Scientific Programmer

Overview
Xerasys, Inc. is a Davis-based startup building proprietary earthquake 
probability and economic loss forecasting technologies for the financial 
markets. The Company???s space- and time-dependent earthquake risk 
assessments dramatically improve on currently available technology. 
Within the next year, the Company???s products will enable customers to 
diagnose and better manage their exposure to risk in the financial markets.

The Opportunity
Xerasys is seeking a Scientific Programmer to develop the coding 
required to incorporate statistically calibrated loss models into the 
Company???s proprietary earthquake risk assessment model.  The Scientific 
Programmer will initially be hired for a two-month probationary period 
and will report directly to the Company???s Chief Technology Officer (CTO).

Desired Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree in scientific field related to the Company???s 
technology;
- Proven aptitude for building and validating statistical models (as 
indicated by experience or a degree in an appropriate field);
- Experience with programming in Python and compiled languages (e.g., 
C/C++);
- Experience with database programming (such as mySQL);
- Experience with web development (such as Javascript, PHP, and perl)
- Familiarity with Linux operating system;
- Ability to operate effectively in high-growth, entrepreneurial 
environment.

Major Responsibilities
- Integrate algorithms and documentation of statistically calibrated 
loss models provided by the Company???s CTO into the Company???s core 
technology;
- Implement code to enable the exploration and validation of loss models 
provided by the Company???s CTO;
- Assist in the development of web portal
