I am in need of someone looking to apply their cutting-edge Kernel
skills at a company that is making an impact on the world with their
technology? Our partner Akamai (www.akamai.com) delivers 20% of the
world???s internet traffic and has an impressive list of clients,
including BestBuy.com and the US Department of Defense. This amazing
company is looking to hire a Linux Kernel Development Engineer in San
Mateo, CA to play a critical role in enhancing and maintaining a
high-performing, robust, and secure Linux kernel that is essential to
the company???s products and services.


Akamai has multiple openings at a variety of levels with the following
requirements and responsibilities.

Responsibilities:

Integrate Kernel features to optimize the world???s largest
distributed computing and content delivery system
 
Develop Akamai added-value Kernel modules
 
Evaluate system performance on a variety of hardware platforms
 
Contribute to mainstream Kernel development as appropriate
 


Experience and Skills Required:

Comprehensive understanding of Linux Kernel Architecture
 
Hands on Linux Kernel development experience
 
Expert knowledge in at least two of the following: IP networking, SMP,
process management, virtual memory, I/O subsystem, security,
performance analysis, file systems, resource management

Ability to create code acceptable to the Linux community
 
Knowledgeable of networking protocol stacks, especially TCP/IP
 
Active and respected in the Open Source software community; published
papers on Linux would be a plus
 
BSCS degree or equivalent; MSCS is preferred
