Scyld is seeking a highly talented applications lead engineer with a
passion for discovery science informatics and the aptitude to deal
with scientific customers and ISVs on a face to face basis. The
perfect candidate will have that combination of scientific, technical
and client skills in addition to a degree in Computer Science, Life
Science or other discipline, and at least several years of research
experience. Direct experience in High Performance Computing designing,
porting and qualifying Linux cluster solutions applications is
essential. Knowledge of common bioinformatics or cheminformatics tools
and ability to interface with software engineering, ISVs, customers,
sales and indirect distribution channels in this sector will be
important success factors.
Job Detail: Responsibilities:
- Understanding and communicating customer business and technical needs in
the HPC market
- Act as feedback conduit to engineering for continued product improvement
- Act as Scylds vertical industry expert in a particular HPC market segment
- Interface with ISVs regarding key vertical applications
- Design and execution of test strategies for ISV programs.
- Porting critical ISV applications to operate in Scyld Beowulf environment.
- Work with marketing teams, sales, and indirect distribution channels as
HPC end user and vertical market expert.
- Supervise a small group of HPC applications specialists and developers.
Expertise Desired:
- Linux porting, drivers and network stack
- Parallel file systems
- Cluster middleware (job scheduling, single system image)
- Compilers and tools
- Math and communications libraries
- Firmware, diagnostics and systems bring-up
- Technical application analysis and tuning
Skills and Expertise Required:
- A strong background in computational science with related to biological
or genomics applications
- In depth experience in Linux or Unix operating systems and HPC clustering
solutions.
- Strong oral and written communications skills
- Expertise in multiple areas of software development
- Track record of successful results with small teams
Minimum Qualifications:
- Degree in an appropriate technical discipline
- 5 years experience in the field, with at least 3 years in commercial
enterprises
- Experience with HPC applications
- Experience hiring and managing engineers.
- Demonstrated customer interface skills
