The Linux Users' Group of Davis (LUGOD) will be holding the following meeting
this month:
Monday
May 16, 2011
7:00pm - 9:00pm
Presentation:
"Django web framework"
Joel Bremson, Graduate Student Researcher
Institute of Transportation Studies, UC Davis
Django is an open source web application framework, written in the
open source Python programming language, and which follows the
model-view-controller architectural pattern (MVC). It is high-level,
and encourages rapid development and clean, pragmatic design.
Developed four years ago by a fast-moving online-news operation,
Django was designed to handle two challenges: the intensive deadlines
of a newsroom and the stringent requirements of the experienced
Web developers who wrote it. It lets you build high-performing,
elegant Web applications quickly.
This talk will include a demonstration of building of a small app and
explain the basics of django's MVC implementation. Basic understanding
of scripting languages and web development will be assumed.
This meeting will be held at:
Yolo County Public Library, Davis Branch (Mary L. Stephens Branch)
Blanchard community meeting room
315 East 14th Street
Davis, California 95616
