Founded in July 2008, BerkeleyTIP (Berkeley Talks, Installfest,
Potluck & Project/Programming Party) is a group dedicated to
free software, free hardware and free culture. It holds in-person
meetings in Berkeley, while simultaneously providing global access
to meetings via online text chat (IRC) and audio conference
calling (VoIP).
John will discuss the technical and organizational hurdles required to
run global, internet-based events, as well as share stories about BTIP
and how it differs from a typical computer club. Also, as a first for
LUGOD, John will tele-present this meeting from Berkeley.
