The Linux Users' Group of Davis (LUGOD) will be holding its next meeting on:

  Monday
  February 16, 2009
  7:00pm - 9:00pm

The meeting will be held at our regular location:

  Davis Public Library
  Blanchard Meeting Room
  315 East 14th St.
  Davis, California 95616

Presentation:

  Rave disk drive recorders

  Presented by:
    Ramona Howard, Spectsoft

Spectsoft's "Rave" is an uncompressed video/data solution used for
feature film and television. It is a turnkey, frame based line of
disk recorders that supports the full gamut of video resolutions.
Rave products are Linux-based, and designed to sit in any environment
and play nicely with Macs or PCs.

  About the Speaker:
Ramona Howard is CEO and founder of Spectsoft. Founded in 1997 to
serve the film, media, and broadcast industries, SpectSoft has
since worked on technical projects with some of the industries'
    biggest and brightest companies.

The idea was to bring both open software and unix design
philosophies that allow customers never ending flexibility and freedom
with their software. SpectSoft feels the unix philosophy of making a
particular software tool do "one thing, but one thing well" is the
perfect match for high end film and video production as having to
worry about stability of a tool is simply not an option.
