The Linux Users' Group of Davis (LUGOD) will be holding its next meeting on:

Presentation:

  OpenSSL - the open source Secure Sockets Layer project

  Presented by:
    Brian Lavender

  OpenSSL is an open source implementation of the 'Secure Sockets Layer' (SSL)
  and 'Transport Layer Security' (TLS) cryptography protocols.
  SSL and TLS provide secure communications on the Internet for such things
  as web browsing, e-mail, Internet faxing, instant messaging and other data
  transfers.  Wrappers allowing the use of the OpenSSL library in a variety
  of computer languages are available for most Unix-like operating systems,
  OpenVMS and Microsoft Windows.

  About the Speaker:
    Brian is currently working as a Google Summer of Code student on OSSIM,
    the Open Source Security Information Management project, a collection of
    tools designed to aid network administrators in computer security and
    intrustion detection and prevention.
